  • What can I expect during my appointment?
When you arrive for your appointment, we will photograph your tattoo for reference and benchmark for future treatments. We will then evaluate your tattoo to determine the best course of laser treatment to accomplish your goals. We will apply the numbing cream if you choose to numb before your session. You wear goggles to protect your eyes from the laser during the tattoo removal process. The laser is applied to the entire area of the tattoo. The length of the procedure varies depending on the size and coloration of the tattoo. Some can be treated in just a few minutes, while others take 30 minutes or longer. Once the treatment is completed, soothing ointment is applied, and the area is covered with a protective dressing.
  • What can I expect after one session?
Tattoo removal is a process. You should experience significant fading but don't expect a complete tattoo removal after one session. We usually recommend between 1-3 treatments for lightening and 8-10 treatments for complete removal. Your tattoo may darken, lighten, fade, or even appear to have no change immediately post-treatment. This is because, on average, your body takes 6-12 weeks to process the tattoo's pigment. Tattoo removal shatters tattoo ink and eliminates the tiny pigment particles through the body's lymphatic system, making treatment results not immediately visible.
  • What can I expect during the healing process?
There are some temporary side effects that you may expect from your skin after laser tattoo removal. After treatment, most people notice that their skin turns white and puffy in the treated area. This sign of healing will likely subside in a few hours. People may also experience: Redness, Tenderness, Swelling, Blistering, Scabs, Bruising, Hyperpigmentation, and Hypopigmentation. These side effects are temporary and should subside entirely in a few weeks. After that, your skin should return to it's normal texture, with a reduced appearance of the unwanted tattoo.
  • What should I wear to my appointment?
You should wear clothing that's both comfortable and leaves easy access to the area that's being treated. No skinny jeans or leggings if you are having treatment on your legs. Loose cotton pants and shorts are perfect for tattoos on the legs. Loose cotton short-sleeved shirts or tank top are perfect tattoos above the waste. Wearing clothes that are too tight will inhibit the skin's ability to cool down properly. The residual heat that is in your skin after treatment may become trapped. That may lead to a heat reaction
  • Do laser tattoo treatments hurt?
Everybody has a different experience with tattoo removal. Does it hurt? It can. Many people describe it as similar to a rubber band or bacon pop. We will use cold and topical numbing cream on the area if needed. Our goal is to make this as comfortable as possible.
  • How often can my tattoo be lasered?
Tattoo removal works by eliminating pigment in the tattoo through the body’s lymphatic system. That process takes time. We wait 6-8 weeks between appointments.
  • Why choose laser tattoo removal over affordable creams?
Resist the temptation to make tattoo removal a do-it-yourself project. Your health and the appearance of your skin are at stake. Tattoo removal creams can fade and re-color the skin around the tattoo to make the artwork less visible. Due to serious side effects, the FDA warns consumers about tattoo removal creams, ointments, and do-it-yourself tattoo removal kits. The FDA has approved no tattoo removal cream currently on the market. Here's what the FDA says about these products: There's no evidence that any of these products can remove a tattoo. The products often contain strong acids that can damage your skin, causing a rash, burn, or permanent scar. And you'll still have that unwanted tattoo.
  • Why do I need to place a deposit if I only book a consultation?!
To be perfectly honest- people no-show all the time. Your consultation deposit can be applied to future laser appointments. If you choose not to go forward with any laser services, you have up to 14 calendar days to request your deposit back.
  • Estimate the Number of Sessions
Our mission is to ensure transparency and empower our clients with comprehensive information. Open communication and sharing relevant details are vital to building trust and fostering a successful partnership. Estimate the number of sessions you may need. Keep in mind that this is an estimate only. Many factors can affect the number of sessions you will need- the tattoo's age, colors, size, and location. Aftercare, your immune system, and physical activity also affect your body's ability to clear the ink.
  • Find your Skin Type
Understanding the Fitzpatrick Skin Scale is crucial in effectively assessing and managing various skin conditions and treatments. As a widely recognized and utilized classification system, it provides valuable insights into how different skin types respond to factors such as sun exposure, medical treatments, and cosmetic procedures.
  • Hydration
Be sure to drink plenty of water. Drink at least 1-2 liters a day before your appointment. Properly hydrating before your tattoo appointment helps ensure your skin is also properly hydrated. Having adequately hydrated skin is a huge factor that helps skin heal properly.
  • Avoid Sun Exposure
Laser treatment cannot be performed on sunburned or recently tanned skin. A safe timeframe is two weeks off from tanning before your laser appointment. Your skin will be particularly sensitive after treatments, so lather on SPF between your appointments and avoid the sun.
  • Avoid Self-Tanners
Do not use self-tanner or spray tan products for at least two (2) weeks before treatment.
  • Monitor Medication
You can’t take antibiotics, tretinoin (Retin-A), Aspirin, or any blood-thinning medications for two weeks before your appointment. https://www.goodrx.com/health-topic/dermatology/avoid-the-sun-if-you-take-these-drugs
  • 24 Hours
You may notice a frosted appearance immediately after treatment. This results from tiny gas bubbles that make the skin appear white or chalky. This will fade away within a half hour. Avoid vigorous exercise. You can shower with indirect, low-pressure water 2 hours after your laser tattoo removal treatment. Just like getting a tattoo avoid soaking your treated tattoo (baths, hot tubs, saunas, and swimming). You can treat the area with cold compresses to help relieve pain and reduce inflammation. If you need additional pain relief, use Tylenol. Avoid taking ibuprofen, Aspirin, and naproxen, which can cause additional bruising and other unwanted side effects.
  • 4 Days
Keep the tattoo removal area covered with the bandage. After day four (4) you can remove it and apply a thin layer of ointment such as Aquaphor, Polysporin, or 1% Hydrocortisone. We do not recommend Neosporin, or anything with neomycin, as it is a common allergen. If you feel it is necessary, you can use mild un-fragranced soap, we love gold Dial, and water and pat the area dry.
  • 5-7 Days
You should start to see some improvement in the area after about 5-10 days, but the proper laser tattoo removal aftercare is essential to continue the healing process with maximum results. Gentle daily massage of the treated tattoo will help your body's absorption of the broken-up ink and speed up fading. Keep your treated tattoo covered, and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 5-10 days after treatment. It would be best if you continued to protect your tattoo with SPF 25 or higher for three months or more for the most effective after-laser tattoo removal care.
